A bit about our history:
Latin American Immigrant Alliance is a non-profit organization (501 (c) 3), which promotes the integration of the cultures in the New York community. We have served the queens community since 2001 and will continue to serve by offering programs about the different rights we have as immigrants, personal growth, cultural understanding between the different communities, health, ecology, mini tours of the state of New York, art, poetry, and music.
Monica Ivulich is the president and founder of Latin American Immigrant Alliance. She is also a mother of three, a writer, a member of the Board of the Queens Hispanic Parade, member of the Association of writers and journalist of tourism, art and culture (APETH)
Monica began her work towards integrating the Queens community in the year 2000 with the publication of the bilingual magazine “Gong Magazine” of which she was the editor.
This magazine was created together with Francisco Rodríguez with the objective of promoting culture among the immigrants and the native new Yorkers, creating a space for artistic expression, with the goal of satisfying the necessity of understanding between the several cultural groups that live in the city of New York. Its goal was to integrate and unite the Queens communities; and foster a better quality of life.
Francisco Rodríguez is a singer/song writer, and an artist. He won the award “Artist of the year 2001”. He has done graffiti work for several magazines and every year he travels to Japan to show his artwork and to play in his band “Wayno”. He is vice chairman and the coordinator of the “Tertulias de Pancho”, one of the most popular cultural projects in our institution. He is also a Co-director of Arts program
Our board of director is completed by Ziek Paterniti who is Licensed Massage Therapist, Ordained Interfaith Minister and Visual Artist with a A.A.S. Architectural Civil Technology and also advanced trainings in Non-violent Communication. Her role in L.A.I.A. IS: treasurer and Director of Arts programs, Facilitator & Instructor “Expressions” class (Collage and Art with paper)
